Life on a farm has changed a lot over the years.
At one time, no tractors and only horses to pull the plough, and crops were gathered in by hand. It was work from dawn to dusk then, and while the farmer was outside working the wife was in the kitchen, making bread, cakes, preserves and anything else she could. One thing for sure they ate well in those days.
Nowadays they have tractors that do most of the work for them, but one thing hasnโ€™t really changed are the actual farm animals. Yes the way they are kept has changed a lot, and not always for the better.

It was hard work in those days

Much easier now

I have been fortunate to visit a few farms, and we do have a working farm open to the public just outside Lincoln. Itโ€™s great to meet the animals and they usually donโ€™t mind you as long as you treat them with respect.

The animals are usually ok with being fussed etc., but bulls are best avoided!! So really are the Border Collies, they do say the ones on a farm can be very iffy!!

Pigs are fun, especially the babies, but donโ€™t pick one up. I did once, and never heard a scream like it, thought I had hurt it, but no, itโ€™s what they do.

In the old days pigs were fed swill, it was left overs etc. but now its illegal and their food is carefully monitered. No wonder the meat isnt the same

Something a farmer couldnโ€™t be without, his trusted border collie

There are a lot of other farm animals: chickens, ducks, goats, horses, bulls, and all farms have cats!

So, today, letโ€™s enjoy some farm animal fun, and let us know your favourite out of the farm animals.
Post all things farm animals related, pics, gifs and music and see if we can get any farm animals to dance !!
