🌰🥮It’s National Hazelnut Cake Day

Cake anybody???
I have never had hazelnut cake, but it looks and sounds delicious. Today is National Hazelnut Cake Day, what a great day to celebrate!!

Hazelnuts go back a long way in time. Recent evidence found in Scotland dates them back to 7000 BC. They grow on trees in clusters of 3 - 5 nuts and are harvested in Autumn.

These nuts are grown all over the world, and the Ferrero Company uses most of them for its products.

The best use for them, in my opinion, is in a cake!!

Even better when it is with chocolate!!

A few facts about these tasty nuts;

  • In 1989, the hazelnut was declared the official nut of the state of Oregon.

  • Hazelnuts are rich in nutrients like Vitamin E, dietary fibre and folate.

  • There are hundreds of varieties of hazelnuts produced worldwide, and 70% of them come from Turkey.

To celebrate today, a must is to eat some hazelnut cake, or even try to make one and see how you get on. Or at least eat something with hazelnuts in.

Post all things hazelnut or cake-related, including pics, gifs, music, etc.
Let’s have some tasty fun!
