Well, what a great day to celebrate, but why do we celebrate it? Probably cos it was ordered by Cats.
Cats, those small, cute, furry little things that you can’t help but love, that steal your heart and, in a very short while, have taken over your house and run to their timetable!!

In ancient times, cats were treated as Gods; they have never forgotten this, and back in 3000 BC, cats were allowed indoors to keep the mice down in the granaries.

Nowadays, it is estimated that 500 million cats are around, which is great, as it has been proven that owning a cat improves mental health, relieves stress (not sure about that one), anxiety and depression.
They are good for a cuddle and like a fuss on their own terms !!

The sort of cat you have is a personal decision. I have had all sorts, but always had at least one black one. They are great and so full of character, and due to ignorance and stupid superstitions, they are the hardest to find a home for. The other ones with great characters are ginger cats. I have always rescued them, and still do. All have been moggies, apart from 2 Siamese I had, who were more like dogs and very noisy.

To celebrate today, why not adopt a cat—plenty in the shelters—or make a donation to a cat charity, and give a hug to any cat you see and remind them they are very precious animals who do a lot of good.
They are also more independent than dogs and don’t take as much looking after, and can be great fun and full of mischief!
