Mad Hatter Day

Welcome to Mad Hatter Day. I think this will be quite a good fun thread for us!

Any reason why not?

Well, I think this is the perfect thread for most of us. It is a great chance to bring out our daft side, or even dafter side if that's possible.
The Mad Hatter is a daft character in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, which no doubt everybody in the world has read as a child and loved.  He is a lovable person and brings out our silly side. That is what today is about.

The day came about cos in 1986, some computer folk celebrated a general day of silliness inspired by the Mad Hatter.

We all say mad as a hatter, but where did that phrase came from?
In the 18th and 19th centuries, hat makers used mercury nitrate to make felt from animal skin. Prolonged exposure to this mercury gave them a variety of physical and mental ailments, including the shakes, hallucinations and speech problems - hence the expression and the depiction of the Mad Hatter in the book and animated film!!

The best way to celebrate it is just to be silly, but we do that everyday on here, so let’s be different. We will have a Mad Hatter’s Party after tea. Or maybe we will have a Mad Hatter afternoon tea.  Or you could be boring and watch the film or read the book.

Whatever you choose to do, make it as silly and daft as possible and enjoy. Silliness is good fun !!

Very true!!

All are welcome. And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
