💐It’s Rose Day 🌹

If you like Roses, and I think most people do, today is a day for celebration.
In Victorian times, they were obsessed with the symbol of what flowers meant, and roses meant love in all sorts of forms.
The red rose was love.

The cultivation of roses goes back thousands of years to China, and Confucius was said to have them in the Imperial Garden around 500 BC. The Romans considered them to be a symbol of secrecy and desire, especially related to Venus, the Goddess of beauty and love.

Different colour roses mean different things.

Whatever their meaning, roses are one of the most beautiful flowers, and if you are lucky enough to have a scented one in your garden, even nicer.
There is nothing nicer than receiving a bunch of roses, so to celebrate today, treat yourself to a nice bunch and just sit and enjoy their beauty.

Roses wake at dawn’s first gleam,

Blushing petals caught in dream.

Soft as secrets lovers keep,

Blooming where the heart runs deep.
