🍁🍃🌬️Fall Back

Well, at 2am tomorrow morning, the clocks go back, meaning the end of Summer and the start of Greenwich Mean Time. I would rather have British Summer Time personally!!
Altering the clocks gives us an extra hour in bed, but it disturbs our body clock and takes us a week to get used to it.
It also gives us darker evenings!!

This clock changing has been going on since May 1916, due to the First World War. It enabled better use of the daylight and conserved energy.
There are a lot of people who would like this outdated system changed to either Standard Time or British Summer Time, and I, for one, agree with it.

Arguments for and against changing the clocks:

  • Arguments for permanent standard time:

    • Health concerns: The British Sleep Society and other groups argue that the clock changes negatively impact sleep patterns and circadian rhythms.

    • Alignment with nature: Permanent standard time would align the UK with its geographical reality and provide more natural morning light, which is beneficial for the body's natural functions.

  • Arguments for permanent summer time:

    • Economic benefits: Proponents suggest that year-round British Summer Time would boost the hospitality and retail sectors and encourage more people to exercise outdoors in the evenings.

    • Energy savings: Historical arguments and some modern proposals suggest that longer daylight hours in the evenings can lead to energy savings.

    • Reduced accidents: Some studies have indicated that brighter evenings could reduce road accidents.

  • Public opinion:

While some polls show a preference for permanent British Summer Time, others indicate division, with many people preferring the status quo, especially when considering darker mornings in winter.

What to expect

  • The UK will continue to change its clocks twice a year, going forward one hour in spring and back one hour in autumn, at least for the foreseeable future.

It not only affects our body clock. The animals are the same. They don’t understand that their food is now an hour later than yesterday, and they don’t like it. We should try to change things for them gradually over a few days and not all at once.

So what are your thoughts on this?
Should we stay as we are, or should we move on into the modern world and leave the clocks as they are?

Today, post all things relating to time changing and as they say, "fall back", including pics, gifs, music and dance and let's have some fun and a nice lie-in tonight!
